Safe Waters Foundation provides a wealth of information and resources for Second Life mermaids, mermen, and other aquatics. The group holds weekly meetings to share information and answer questions. The headquarters building has information on retailers and great places to swim in the Second Life virtual world.

This book by Matthieu Guitton (editor) explores how merfolk have evolved in popular culture and what it is that grants them their privileged status among fantasy creatures. Be sure to check out Cynthia's chapter on mermaid blogging. Other contributors to the book include professional mermaid Hannah Fraser, and mermaid school owner, Marielle Chartier-Henault.

The MerNetwork web site and forum provide information on buying or creating your own mermaid or merman tail. Other topics include accessories, performing, gatherings, and freediving.

The original Gold Mermaid site was a collection of articles on coastal New England. A total of 65 articles were produced from 8 October 2007 through 15 November 2010. While the articles may continue to inspire a trip to the New England area of the US, note that some of the information may be out of date.
