Mermish 101

In Second Life, the Mermish language is often used when greeting another mermaid or merman. Only a few words and expressions get much use, so it is not difficult to come up to speed.
  • Tala - Hello
  • Lusa Em - See you (Good bye)
  • Sessa - Mermaid
  • Sesmuna - Friend of Mermaids
  • Nulma - Love
Want to learn more? Ask Cynthia for the complete notecard. The dialect of Mermish we use in SL comes from
The Secret World of Mermaids by Francine Rose. Many other dialects are out there, and most are quite awkward to use. One example uses O-kee'-ya for Hello and Jai-quay' for Good bye.
